French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review    Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators come with stylish double doors that open to an enormous fridge on the top and a freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out because of their unique features, including through-the-door dispensers and higher-end Ice makers.    We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right one. They weighed storage capacity, layout, energy efficiency, and other factors.    GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator    Like its name implies, the GE Profile series is aimed at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. This fridge is loaded with them all including the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I expected more.    Other than that the fridge is a great choice. It features a large freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food compared to other models.    Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It comes with a decent size freezer in the left side. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.      You can adjust the shelving in each compartment to create a customized storage arrangement for the items you need to store. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting is an attractive feature. The in-door storage bins have a third shelf which can be folded down to store large items. The drawers have temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings a bit rough on the fingers.    The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from any place across the globe. It also comes with many options for customization. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.    It is nice if GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is a feature available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allow users to choose how many cups they want to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown timer to reveal how much water remains but it's not as helpful as Precise fill.    Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator    The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to look like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a veggie compartment which keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors to preserve food items. The ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient, and it produces pyramid shaped ice using minimal water. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or kitchenette that needs an attractive design and top of the best food preservation.    This refrigerator was rated as the top in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. Its freezer temperatures held firm at a level that was just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, never fluctuating by more than a fraction an inch. This is essential to avoiding freezer burn. The fridge section of the refrigerator also performed well. It reached the initial temperature within a matter of hours, and remained at the temperature throughout our testing.    Bosch has a reputation for premium appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is expensive, but it offers top-quality features and functions for the price.    It is important to know the limitations of the fridge. You might need to be creative with tall objects because the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves aren't impervious to spills and could easily be damaged or stained by sharp items. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge is built with an ordinary French door design, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer to store food items and an internal water dispenser.    This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker, making it easy to transfer the ice when needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, as well, such as sliding drawers to help you better organize the placement of your items. It also comes with a large bin that holds plenty of frozen food and an additional ice storage bin.    Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a simple method to monitor your refrigerator and control it, especially when you're away from home.    Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. The refrigerator took longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we tested. This could be due to its greater capacity.    The doors are another problem with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been better if these had front-mounted handles.    The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. It has a capacity that is higher than average for counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which helps make it an attractive option.    Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator    If you're looking for an French door fridge that doesn't cost a fortune, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually as other models, but it has enough features to make it a solid option. Its most important feature is the temperature adjustable drawer that helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. This drawer allows you to use some of your fridge's cooling power into this area so that you can store foods which need extra attention. You can adjust this feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling setting for the entire fridge but I've noticed that adjusting the generic settings tends to have a better effect than specific ones.    During my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.    This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.    The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of grey-bodied stainless steel which has a "smudge-proof" finish.
